Western Lighting and Energy Controls partnered with Digital Decora to take some of the top electrical specifiers in the country on a once-in-a-lifetime, all-expense paid trip to New York City. With many activities planned, the highlight of the trip was the opportunity for the specifiers to receive a plant tour at Lutron Headquarters located in Coopersberg, Pennsylvania.

The trip began with the specifiers arriving in New York City, where dinner was planned giving everyone the opportunity to meet and mingle. The next day consisted of an exciting architectural tour of the city followed by some exploring and shopping. Participants were able see the sites and venture out individually.

Day three brought the plant tour of Lutron in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania. A historical background of Lutron was presented. The highlight of the trip was when the participants were able to utilize actual project plans – with the assistance of the Lutron Executives - to specify Lutron solutions for their individual project challenges.

Some of the training topics the specifiers were presented with included; RadioRA2, Homeworks QS, Ecosystem, Shading Solutions, Ivalo Fixtures, How to Specify, Caseta Wireless, Sensors, Controlling LEDs, and Title 24 2016 Residential Updates to Code.

As one of the New York Trip attendees, lighting specifier Paul Schatz of Interior Design Imports was impressed with the experience and camaraderie of the trip. “I was honored to be a part of this skilled group of lighting & design specifiers” said Schatz, “Not only did I gain a much better understanding of Lutron products and how they can benefit my clients, but I was able to build relationships with other professionals in my field. Western Lighting & Energy treated us all like VIP’s and I’d jump at the chance to attend another specifier trip in the future.”
