In 1996, Western began as a small lighting sales agency servicing the San Diego lighting community. Today, 22 years later, Western is one of the premiere lighting agencies in Southern California, covering San Diego, Orange County, Inland Empire, and Los Angeles County.

Principals Matt Sedlock and Jimm Reifsnyder joined forces in 2011 to create what we currently know to be Western Lighting and Energy Controls. After surveying the market, and seeing a need for a comprehensive, customer focused agency, the two made the leap into a new territory. The decision to open up Western to Orange County, Inland Empire and Los Angeles, brought the same unparalleled customer service that Western was known for in San Diego, to the north. Since then, Western has grown exponentially every year.

Today, Western is comprised of 60 employees, and represents 80+ lighting manufacturers. Their expansive lighting line card encompasses a complete package for specifiers and distributors alike. Well known brands such as WAC and design community favorite, Modernforms, lends to the decorative and sophisticated hospitality project, while on the other end of the spectrum, HE Williams covers the commodity goods. Outdoor lines such as Schreder and Holm round out Western’s offerings to support anything from architectural landscape lighting, to parking lot fixtures. Western also represents state of the art technological innovators such as Cree lighting, and Aion LED. Aion’s RGBW+ ™, and Dim to Glow™ technology give Western the ability to cover every corner of a fixture schedule.

Western Lighting and Energy controls has built a specialized sales team, including long-time employee Denise Jenkins, an LC and LEED Green Associate. Her 15 years at Western makes her the sales person with the longest tenure at Western, and one of the best specification track records— including San Diego’s airport parking lots with the Schreder Furyo fixture.

Western has made a large impact on the Southern California market with their dedicated sales force, and field service team who are able to take job opportunities from start to finish. Western has proudly made a commitment to supporting and hiring United States veterans. Each of the highly knowledgeable Western field service team members is a US Armed Forces veteran. Reifsnyder, who is a United States Marine Corps veteran, has made an concerted effort to “Hire Veterans First.”

Western’s success in the Southern California lighting market has been a continuing climb due to the educated, and friendly team of lighting experts led by Sedlock and Reifsnyder.
